The annual Summer Festival of the home brewing club of the Western Cape (known as the “SouthYeasters”) is the biggest event of the year for CBC. Now in its fourth year, the SouthYeasters Summer Festival provides a platform for brewers to show off their products and skill.
SouthYeasters Summer Festival
It’s not every day that one gets to try as many beers as one likes, or to take part in amazing competitions such as the People’s Choice Award or the Wolfgang Cup, so this year’s event was another resounding success. We proudly donated grains and hops to some of the brewers in attendace, and over 30 entrants competed for the Cup. We also donated some beer on the day of the festival.
This year’s festival was the first to boast a panel of BJCP-certified (Beer Judge Certification Programme) judges. With over 40 brewers and 100 beers to choose from, the festival is definitely THE opportunity for craft and micro brewers to enjoy and compare the products of their follow brewers. David Savage from soon to be Bad Dog Brewery is the holder of the cup for the year!
