CBC & COVID-19

Dear Client, Customer and Friends

As of today, South Africa now has 116 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with some in the Western Cape.

We want to outline the precautionary measures that we are taking to ensure that our business operations and services continue to run with as little disruption as possible.

We remain committed to the continuity of all our services. By partnering with you, we want to support the health and well-being of everyone throughout this period. It is of vital importance to work together during this time and ensure the safety of our people and the broader community. In support of Government’s decision to invoke a state of disaster, we will also be limiting client meetings to support decreased social contact and gatherings.

We’ve put into place several safety checks across all of our operations to ensure increased safety and awareness for, and amongst, our staff members:

Production Area
• As of 2 March 2020, three Hygiene and Virus Transmission Awareness workshops were conducted, this will continue weekly
• Increased frequency of routine sanitation and hand-washing and at the start and finish of every shift
• Regular reminders by departmental H&S officers during shifts to wash and sanitise hands
• Lunch breaks are staggered, so no more than five people are frequenting our canteen at the same time
• Social distancing is a big priority for us, any employee who shows signs of fever will be asked to remain home and encouraged to get tested for COVID-19
• Routine sanitation and cleaning of all surface, e.g. door handles and critical parts of our facilities are sanitised every 60’, where possible doors are kept ajar, with adequate ventilation in our tasting room

Tasting Room
• All visitors to our tasting area are requested to sanitise their hands
• If possible, we ask customers to use SnapScan for purchase transactions, and card transaction terminals are regularly sanitised

Where possible, work-from-home options will be available to employees.

While this is an unprecedented and unforeseen challenge in a climate of uncertainty, we would like to assure you that we are adopting a business-as-usual approach and we are determined to uphold our core values of excellence and service delivery.

Moving forward, we will continue to follow any government announcements strictly.

Stronger Together
To a healthy CHEERS

Heroine of the Month for November

Janine is a true multitasker when it comes to managing all CBC’s quality checks and controls on our beers. From production to keg returns, LAB results and tests for exports and domestic markets, she is also a real Guru when it comes to the numerous beer competitions that CBC enters each year.

Janine is 100 % acountable for her quality of work, she is a real team player that is not afraid to jump in the deep end to achieve results, and keep the CBC brand moving forward. Her positive and amicable nature gives us the reassurance that we can all proudly stand behind our products, knowing that someone is keeping a continuous watchful eye over them.

Heroines of the Month for October

  • Michelle van den Berg (Pretoria On-Trade Sales)

Michelle started at CBC in May 2019 and quickly asserted herself as a fully fledged member of the sales team in Gauteng and nationally. Michelle has quickly built up her reputation in trade with her customers as one of being the best, trustworthy, reliable and delivering on her promises. She is not afraid to get down in the trenches during a festival, event or in her accounts where it sometimes takes hard work and sweat to ensure that our products are poured perfectly. Michelle has brought with her a new energy to the Gauteng sales team. She lives the brand and takes it personally if the competitors step on her Mojo, but she comes back fighting always with new ideas and concepts. A true asset to our business.

  • Anina Slabber (Supply Chain Manager)
Anina effectively runs the biggest portion of our supply chain – suppliers and customers. Delivery of stock to clients, transferring of stock between warehouses, reviewing stock levels, placing orders – and receiving of raw material stock, due to it’s nature,  has a negative measurement, unlike sales – how much is sold, production – how much was produced,  you only ever hear of the stock not delivered or raw material not on hand.No one gets a daily update of stock successfully delivered, raw material received on time, battles fought with suppliers over short deliveries/ price variances, strings pulled to get stock/items moved to help other internal customers on short notice. A true hero, an asset to CBC.

Torpedo SwimRun Cape

An extraordinary race during the South African summer at the foot of the 7th Natural Wonder of the World, the Torpedo SwimRun Cape is the pinnacle race in the Torpedo SwimRun series. A wild experience in the #wildlycool Atlantic waters, this race is only for the brave.

With each team to complete a total of 16km, Cape Brewing Co, as the exclusive beer partner, will be ready with an ice cold, perfectly brewed, craft beer after a tough day on the land & in the water.

HERO OF THE MONTH

Meet our Heroes of the month for September:

Frankie Adonis

When Frankie is not moving around the brewery at a Usain Bolt pace, Frankie is always willing to stop and help his team members. He often gives his time to tasks that fall outside his responsibilities, a true gentleman and team player.

He is certainly a master of all trades, often filling in when other colleagues are on leave in both the malt store and production floor. He got promoted from floor assistant over the last 3 years to Junior mechanical maintenance assistant and draft team supporter. He takes pride in his work and is willing to take on new challenges and learn new skills.

Ralphton Hendricks

Since Ralpthon started at CBC he has made a significant step change in our off premise market. His understanding of how the system works in trade and his dedication to his craft has been vital in increasing our facings, share of shelf and foot print at outlet level – all leading towards increased sales of CBC.

He has made a positive impact in such a short time with CBC, Ralphton is a great example for a positive, professional attitude and he has successfully transferred his past experience into a new company to the employer’s benefit.
